In less than 500 days we see the start of The World Equestrian Games which is being held in Normandy, France.
It opens on Monday August 25th 2014 and finishes two weeks later on Sunday September 7th. Although this might seem far away the preparations have already started.
This major equestrian event involves eight disciplines: Jumping, Dressage, Eventing, Driving, Endurance, Vaulting, Reining and Para-Equestrian Dressage.
The organizers of the event are looking for volunteers from all over the world. They need 3,000 committed people who can help and assist throughout the Games, and for anyone interested the recruitment starts today, April 10th 2013.
I can imagine it must be a great experience to be involved behind the scenes and get an inside view of the things going on. I’m sure it will involve some hard work, but us horsey people can normally cope with that, can’t we?
People who wish to offer their services as volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, must be available for the whole two weeks of the Games and of course must be motivated.
I’m sure the French people will do everything to make the Games a great success, and good luck to anyone who wishes to apply for a position to help as a volunteer.
